Desperate Parents Stories

You and I are not the only members of the desperate parent club. This page features the stories of the parents Jesus interacted with in the Bible, along with parents here and now. We are not reading these stories to compare their circumstances to our own, but to identify with others who gave up trying to fix their problems and turned to Jesus for help. The inspiration for "5 Tips" came from studying what Jesus said to parents in the Bible. As a way to better understand those stories I wrote a fictional version of each. Using the scant details in the Bible and a little bit of research about first-century life, I imagined what each mom or dad might have experienced. Please read the accounts directly from the Bible first. Then, join me on an exploration of what it might have been like for a few desperate parents thousands of years ago. I think you'll be able to relate.
